General-purpose AI assistant from OpenAI

Claude is the assistant to reach for when the work involves long documents, careful writing, or code you actually intend to ship.
Anthropic's models handle very large context windows well and tend to produce cleaner prose and more maintainable code than the alternatives, with consumer chats excluded from training by default. The free tier is capped on daily messages, so heavy users need Pro. It has no native image generation and a smaller integration ecosystem than ChatGPT.
Claude is Anthropic's AI assistant, available as a web app and mobile apps with a free tier and a $20/mo Pro plan. It is built around large context windows, so it can take a whole book, contract set or codebase in a single conversation. The Projects feature keeps reference files and a standing instruction attached to a workspace, and the Artifacts panel renders code, documents and small apps beside the chat. Claude works with text, code, PDFs, spreadsheets and image input, but it cannot generate images.
Claude's headline strength is context: paid models accept hundreds of pages at once and stay coherent across them, which makes it strong for contract review, literature summaries and large refactors. Its writing needs less editing than most competitors, with fewer filler phrases and less repetition. The trade-offs are a smaller plugin ecosystem, no image generation, weaker voice and mobile features than ChatGPT, and a tendency to be over-cautious and refuse benign requests.

Yes, with a daily message limit that flexes with demand. Pro at $20/mo raises limits substantially and adds Projects and early access to new models.
No. Anthropic does not use consumer chat data to train its models by default.
Paid Claude models accept context windows of hundreds of pages in one conversation. The exact limit depends on the model in use.
No. Claude works with text, code and document or image input, but it cannot create images. Pair it with an image tool if you need both.
Claude is often preferred for larger refactors and code review. ChatGPT has the built-in Python sandbox. Both are strong choices.
